Pick a Little Talk a Little, #671

In the education system, Kindergarten is the most delightful and charming year you can have.  Everything about it oozes with cuteness, and I love combing through every project, note, homework assignment that my son comes home with.

Most recently, my son’s class has been doing a lesson on eggs and chicks.  Check out our awesome “egg carrier” that we made out of an egg carton.  We are so proud of it!

A kind nearby farm lends incubators and eggs to the school, and each of the Kindergarten classrooms gets to watch baby chicks hatch.  It is a very exciting project, and I particularly enjoyed my son’s excitement yesterday when he described the “7 chicks!!!!” that had hatched.

The teacher, very wisely, has set up a “chick cam” in her room.  Technology amazes me, as she has set up a camera and has made it possible to watch the eggs from home.  My family has been obsessed over the last couple of days checking the “chick cam” all throughout our evenings.  Together, we have watched these adorable chicks peck through their eggshells.  I think I might even be more into it than my kids are.  It is an amazing thing to watch!

I cannot believe that this incredible school year is coming to an end.  It is going to be so hard to close the chapter on Kindergarten.  What a wonderful experience it has been!

My song of the day is the song “Pick a Little Talk a Little” from the musical, “The Music Man,” as I am thinking of the chickens pecking through their shells.  I love this scene, because the movie version of this Broadway classic so successfully compared the town gossip ladies to chickens pecking away.  This scene is hilarious.  Click HERE to watch it and have a good laugh, as I enjoy the baby chicks hatching in my son’s class.  Cheep, cheep, cheep, y’all!
