Pinoy Reporter, Pretty for Diplomacy

Michelle Mediana went to Taiwan "to cover the aftermath of the fatal shooting of a Taiwanese fisherman by a Philippine Coast Guard vessel," but she became the subject of attention by the Taiwanese media herself. In the news clip below, Mediana is shown as being interviewed by Taiwanese reporters, aside from her Facebook photos making it on front pages of local Taiwanese magazines days prior. Whether it was a lucky coincidence, a trap set by the Taiwanese government to single out a "pretty" Filipino reporter as a resolved deal backdoor, or indeed a Philippine government set-up for diplomacy's sake, all's well that ends well. The Taiwanese's fondness of Mediana is said to have "drastically changed the atmosphere of the diplomatic row between Philippines and Taiwan as she has turned into something of a celebrity in Taiwan since she arrived in the country."
