Last night we had dinner with my cousin who was in from out of town. This is my cousin who I grew up with and have a gazillion memories with. We don’t get to see each too often anymore, and it’s been over 5 years since the last time we saw each other. It was amazing seeing him, and it makes me realize just how much I miss so many of my relatives. I must, must, must make it a point to visit all of this family I love so much.
I want to share a funny laugh from last night with all of you.
I was always the youngest in the family. My cousin, who we saw last night was the oldest. Though we have over 10 years between us, we all got along really well. My cousin, however, is a classic rock guy. Faint memories of “Framptom Comes Alive” flanks my childhood, and I think that was because of him. I love all music now, but for many years, all I could listen to was Duran Duran. My cousin teased me relentlessly for it. ”They’re crap!” Oh…it would be like a dagger right in to my heart every time he said it. Duran Duran were my boys!
So, last night during dinner, I suddenly blurted out, “I want you to know. I still love Duran Duran!” We were all laughing. Such a funny memory that only someone who grew up with me would understand.
