Let me start by saying that I’m not one for experimenting with different perfume. Makeup comes in such a wide array of colours and finishes that it deserves to be played around with. In my last job, I worked with a lady who once asked me, “Why do you come into work one-day wearing pink lipstick and red the next?” and I was like, “Duh… Why the heck wouldn’t you?!”. It was a subject we never saw eye to eye on – she couldn’t understand why I didn’t have a makeup routine that I stuck to EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I just didn’t get how she could go through life not daring to express herself?! Perfume on the other hand…
Feeling Overwhelmed By Fragrance
I don’t know why but once I’ve found a fragrance I trust, I just stick with it. Maybe I would go so far as to have one for work and one for going out and maybe even one that I only wear for really special occasions but that’s it. Possibly because I don’t know a lot about the subject, I feel intimidated by the vast array I’m faced with when I walk into a department store that I just scuttle on by with my head down or because I see it as an extravagant luxury, I’m not sure but I’ve just never felt the need to experiment with loads of different fragrances. That was until this evening…
The Clearout That Lead To My Lovely Discovery
It was just an ordinary Friday evening, I had spent a lovely day with my family. As it’s half term, we went to the PLAYFACTORe. The kids ran around like nutcases whilst the grownups sat around drinking tea. At the tender age of 43, I’m still somewhere in between child and grownup so I did a bit of both. It was awesome fun but I burnt my ass on the slide. When I got home I set about my usual Friday night cleanup operation only this weeks’ was slightly more ruthless. Having spent all week decorating, I decided to have a right good clear out. I set about preparing to throw out a pile of magazines when one of them fell open. The page looking up at me was a beautifully glossy advert for Prada Candy Gloss. I’ve never associated myself with Prada. I know absolutely nothing about the brand. I certainly couldn’t identify any of their perfumes in a lineup.
A beautiful bottle of Prada Candy Gloss. Classic deco styling in gorgeous, girly pink. What more could a girl want?

My instant thought when I saw the color pink and the word candy was that this would be too young, too girly and not a fragrance that I would like but I decided to open the tester and give it a whirl anyway – after all I wasn’t going anywhere, I was only cleaning the house, if I’d been going anywhere I might have thought twice.
Of course, I let it settle for a few minutes until I had a whiff of my wrists but… Wow! As soon as I did I was blown away! It’s not often I’m so taken with a fragrance but honestly… I just had to sit on the sofa for a while and just enjoy it. I have smelled candy influenced perfumes before and they have been too overpowering. Too sickly sweet and smelled like they would make a great present for a thirteen-year-old’s birthday. Definitely not suitable for grownups! Prada Candy Gloss is not at all childish, quite the opposite.
What Does This Gorgeous Scent Smell Like?
I can definitely detect quite a strong scent of white chocolate in there along with strawberry, cherry, vanilla and maybe a hint of Parma Violets but all together, the way that Prada have blended these aromas in their Candy Gloss perfume smell really grown up and sophisticated. I actually want to wear this! It definitely smells like a sweet shop but a really elegant, feminine sweet shop, the kind that children would not appreciate and grown women would want to keep a secret. For some reason, Prada Candy Gloss makes me feel incredibly happy, I just love it!
Timeless Style
Aside from the delicious aroma which is now filling my senses and swimming around my head, this perfume is packaged in an incredibly stylish, pink, art deco styled bottle. The pink is absolutely the pink that your mind conjures up when you smell this heavenly scent and the design of the bottle matches the elegance of the fragrance perfectly.
I don’t know how much more can be said about a fragrance. Other than, I want some Prada Candy Gloss more than I have ever wanted any other perfume! Not only that but it’s made me a little curious to find out more about Prada, a brand I have had very little awareness of until now. I believe there are other perfumes in the Candy range such as Prada Candy, Prada Candy Kiss, Prada Candy Florale and this one, Prada Candy Gloss. I shall make it my mission to seek them out and try them all!
Whatever you’re doing this weekend, I hope you have fun and smell fabulous!
