The ugly duckling never was ugly. It was just that, the people around her had a distorted image of  beauty  and what it was  suppose to look like.

Perhaps, it was the drunkenness of the ripples of the water that drew their eyes to only see what was reflected. To the point that she, herself  believed, what the turbulent waters  revealed.  And sadly , no one every told her any different.

For, if she were to know of her gift of  beauty. Than she would see what they thought was their,  ugliness. So, They feared and thought  to themselves. However, they never feared  or thought. That,  they may,  be lovely and beautiful too. For their dark perception wouldn’t allow it.

Yet, after much thought and oddly some friendly gestures. It didn’t matter, to her. It wasn’t  about the beauty she could visual see. But, the beauty of each and every one’s  good deeds. As, they did try to make her smile when times where sad. And, they did speak to her with encouraging and positive words. They, spake these words to her, when she wanted to let her dreams go and when she needed them most.

So, regardless, of what they wanted to see, for  the sake of vanity. It became clear to her (the swan). That, the distorted water  purposely lied. As each and everyone of them had, including herself had what  matter most.  And that was  webbed feet in order to float from all the crap.

It’s been awhile. But, yesterday I went on a nice hike and took this picture. I don’t think I have ever seen a swan in real life. So, I’am very excited to post this picture for dVerse Poet’s Pub : http://dversepoets.com/ for Open Links Night ~Week 95
