Remembering Who You Are

Posted on the 03 August 2014 by Lizb12 @elizabethbrinks
Remembering who you are I'm working on my AP Lang summer reading material right now (no, I am not a crammer, they told us not to start the books until August-duh) And it's by Annie Dillard, her childhood and all that. Right now I've really loved hearing her talk about "waking up" bridging the point, where, as a child you go from living each day, to remembering yesterday.
Sometimes it's hard to remember things from our past. For me, it's the age of 7-13 years old that's a wee bit dodgy. But I'm not worried.

While I sit here, jamming to Pirate's of The Caribbean, Treasure Planet and How To Train Your Dragon soundtracks, I'm encouraged and also challenged.

Remember all those decisions I'm still working out? Well, hey haven't gone anywhere-but I'm reminded of the saying, the Serenity prayer:
Remembering who you are "The things I cannot change, and the courage to change the things I can" This "prayer" has become an encouragement to me-while there are some things I'm more than ready to say goodbye to, there are some I can't imagine, like Band/Choir-things I live by and through. But then there's that very last part, "And Wisdom to know the difference" Sounds like a Venti grande latte order to me, too big to finish in one sip-but maybe, over time, as it cools-I'll be able to grasp all of it, in it's incredible mystery and profound advice. So for now, I'm off to vacation and more AP reading-Pray for me, And I'll pray for you! (If you, like, ever come out of the woodwork and actually give me something to pray for ya about-I mean, this doesn't always have to be a one way street you know? I mean, not everyone enjoys solitary confinement...) Godbless, LizB
