Renting a Place

Posted on the 13 October 2013 by Gracem16 @TSITR_Gracie
Hey guys,
It's that time again, time to move out and rent a place BUT, you can't drill :s WHAT DO I DO? Is the question most likely on your lips. I'm here to give you the low down.
Free Wallpaper
Super sneaky but free! Go into a store selling wallpapaer; Wilkinsons, Homebase, etc. Take away enough to cover a frame of your choice; remember to BUY THE FRAME. Also remember to trim the sample as you don't want to make it look scruffy. Pop the sample in the frame and you're ready to rock, lea it up against a wall or a place WITHOUT NAILS. Voila!
Postcards.
I love paperchase, for their wide range of postcards! But also try amazon, stick these over wardrobes, doors etc. for a kitsch vibe. Remember to ask for permission when it comes to blue-tac.
Scrabook Paper.
Another idea to fill those frames with or even walls. I love the ones you can sometimes get in the Works or TK Maxx.
Recyle
If you can "upcycle" it. Use it. Don't be afraid to get messy with paint, glitter, paper, etc. Just on things you would't use. Take a look at my reel project in which I do this.
Find!
At certain shops you might wander into homeware and find a jug or plate that might have a great use within the room! Just utilise what you love! Make it seamless and not cluttered, unless you desire that ascetic.
Don't be a snob!
Rummage in places like TK maxx and charity shops- you can find a range of forgotten treasures in places like this.
Sale hunt
When there's a sale on look for a deal. You'll return happy most of the time!
Explore
Look in shops you wouldn't normally look in, you may find a conversation starter for your rented pad!
Bedspreads
In a bedroom a bed spread/ sheet livens up the place, look for bold patterns or a pattern of your choice - choose something eye catching!
Peely hooks.
These have a name but they are like hooks that use strong sticker adhesive with a peelable sticker that won't leave marks. They are an ideal student buy! I believe their called command?!
Photos
Line the walls with photos to remind you of home, friends, family places you've been. They're sentimental and make the place lively.
