Rise Above Fear!

Posted on the 13 December 2014 by Shruti2910
What is life without ups and downs? A boring colorless film. Not many will disagree when I say like isn't a bed of roses. It is in-fact bed of roses turned around. One often comes across difficult hurdles in life and its is purely one's strength and cognitive determination that decides the situation thereafter. A lot of this credits to ones upbringing as well. Growing up as a pampered child, many of us never get to face situations that test our strength and moreover, even develop one's self. But as they say, life is a book and each day is a chapter. Life teaches us a  lot of things. A few things demanded the art of letting go of and some demanded to stand up, risk and walk past the hurdle. I have always been a very shy person. If ever my parents got into a fight with someone else, instead of supporting them, I used to be the one holding their hands and dragging them backwards, which was well, very irritating and coward. I have been peace-loving creature since childhood. Even in school, I used to be the quieter one in the group. This was to an extent that, as much as I remember, I allowed my friends to eat my lunch box and stayed hungry, but never fought back. It was only once when I had fainted because of my hunger and told my teacher that I never get to eat in the recess because all the food is snatched away from me by my friends. However, growing up made me a different person. Like they say, spring bounces back with the same intensity with which it is held back. Once, I went with a friend of mine to a nearby temple in my city. She had a fashion show next evening, so we went to check out some cheap and funky accessories on local stalls. While shopping, one of the shopkeepers held my friends hand when she refused to buy pink earrings at the rate on which he sold. He asked her to put the earring back from where she took. I watched. She refused to do that and tried walking away again, to which, the shopkeeper held my hand. Not yet sure from where I got that power, I turned around and slapped this tall and hefty shopkeeper. Thanks to some presence of mind, I stepped back after slapping him to save myself. The crowd gathered to watch the show but no one came to help. The shopkeeper started hurling abuses at me, which I recorded on my phone. I called the police, ensured his stall was detained and an First Information Report was filed. That day and now, my parents are prouder and more confident of me and so am I.This post is written for Mountain Dew as a part of Indiblogger's Happy Hour Activity.
