Run For Good

Posted on the 17 October 2012 by Mattie @comfyconfident

Today was off to a shaky start. The cold air sneaking through our cracked window made bed extra cozy and very difficult to get out. I had a 6 miler on the agenda so I had to get up and out quickly so I would have enough time to run, shower and get to my desk. Well, I snoozed a couple times and didn’t have my bag packed for the day, so I was already running late when I couldn’t find my work cell phone… anywhere. I woke Vinnie up and the both of us were searching around our tiny apartment. Finally, I was so late, I just had to leave in order to not hit traffic. About 5 minutes into my drive, Vinnie called my personal phone and said he found it… under the covers in our bed [my life.] So, I turned around, went home, grabbed my phone and gave Vinnie one last have a great day kiss bye.

Half way through the drive, I realized I forgot my work shoes. I only have my running shoes that were on my feet since I was planning on going for a run. D’Oh! Run For Good

Guess I am wearing my running kicks all day. Although, I do work for a shoe company… maybe I can find some samples laying around :)

With all the mis-steps, I still managed to get to work with enough time to squeeze a 3 mile run in. Sweet! My Garmin was left in my locker in the gym, and I knew if I went inside I wouldn’t come out. I remembered the new Saucony Run For Good App that I recently downloaded. R4G is a personal running app and a way to fight childhood obesity. By tracking your miles with the app, you are helping Saucony and its partners donate to organizations that keep kids active and healthy. Not only do I get to track my runs, pace and mileage, I can help donate to fight childhood obesity!

Run For Good

Today I donated 3 miles towards good!

A couple things about the app:

  1. You have to run with your phone in order to track a run. This is hard for me, because I usually don’t run with my phone although recently I have been getting lost and needing the GPS to find my way home, so I might have to start having my phone on me more often!
  2. Turn on the Location Services in the Settings part of your phone or else the GPS doesn’t work and the app can not track your run.
  3. Make sure to set up your Twitter and Facebook accounts, so you can share with your friends every time you complete a run!
  4. Run For Good

As I finish this post, I can see the day turning out ok! I got a good run in, it’s beautiful outside (although cold) and I am healthy and alive!
