Dear ex,
It has been 10 weeks since we broke up. That was how long we went out for. They say it takes half the amount of time of the relationship to get over your ex, but this clearly isn’t the case with me. I’m almost fully over you, and I’m very proud of myself for achieving that. You were my first girlfriend, and my first love – but to me I was only your first boyfriend.
You only went out with me because you wanted to know what having a boyfriend was like. You played with me, you knew how I felt about you and you strung me along. As angry as I should be with you, I’m not angry at you at all and I forgive you. I know you are too angry at me to talk to me but I still want us to be friends. That was how I saw things in High School – I wanted my first girlfriend to remain my friend, no matter what.
With all the times I have begged you to come back to me, this time isn’t one of them. I truly mean it when I say I never want us to get back together again and that I just want us to be friends. It still hurts to think of you, but time will heal that. Time heals everything. I just want us to be friends, nothing more.
