Shouldn’t Be Ashamed, #1212

Posted on the 26 August 2015 by Juliezaz1 @juliezaz1

Yesterday I attended a meeting with several people that I had never met before.  I ended up sitting next to a pretty nice and unassuming man.  As it ends up, after comparing notes, I discovered that he’s my daughter’s new math teacher.  I’m so glad that I had an opportunity to spend time with him outside of the school setting.  What a nice way to get to know someone who spends so much time with a person I love more than almost anyone on the planet.

When my daughter was finished with school, I couldn’t wait to tell her.  To my complete surprise and chagrin, she absolutely shrieked in horror.  “How embarrassing!” she proclaimed.

That’s when it hit me.  My daughter cares about things like her Mom meeting her math teacher.  She is officially turning into a middle schooler.  Oh man, she’s getting older.  (And so am I, by the way)  I’m not so sure how I feel about this.  I knew it would happen some day – that I would embarrass the crap out of her. I’m just a little stunned that it’s already happening.

Wilco wrote a song called “Shouldn’t Be Ashamed,” and that is how I am feeling.  How could my kiddo be ashamed of little ‘ol me????  Seriously!  It’s just me!!!

Ugggghhhh…..trudging through the reality of being the Mom of an almost tween.  Oh Lord, help me through this unscathed.
