Posted on the 17 August 2013 by Desiree Munoz @createpinoy

An Answer to Your Early Morning Dilemma

Do you find your breakfasts to be in need of excitement? Are you tired (uyam) of eating bread (pandesal) with butter and jam (palaman)? Do you want to take a break from cereal/muesli with milk/yogurt? Are beans and sausage/tapsilog/longsilog becoming too heavy on your tummy for a morning chow? Or simply, you want a bit of sweet change? Then sigh no more because les crêpes /krepp/ is here! They are so easy to make and a wonderful way to diversify your breakfast options and start your day differently.

Crêpes Ingredients & Procedures That Will Put Boiling an Egg To Shame

Ingredients
flour (all-purpose): 1 cup
eggs: 2
milk: 1/2 cup
water: 1/2 cup
salt: 1/4 teaspoon
oil: 2 tablespoons
Fuss-Free Procedure
I get a cup (I honestly use a mug), fill it with flour and pour in the blender, using the same cup I then put a half cup of milk and a half cup of water and pour in the blender, then I put two eggs, add in a drop of oil and a pinch of salt and turn on blender. Did you even manage a blink? Crêpe batter done!
The batter procedure goes real fast that I start heating the pan before I start putting everything in the blender. By the time I finish blending, the pan is hot enough to cook the crêpe batter right away. Saves a lot of time. And once you do it regularly, the procedure becomes instinctive I promise!
Next, pour in a a ladle-full of batter on the heated pan and spread thinly that it makes an almost paper-thin layer. Flip to cook the other side and voila! You and your crêpe are ready for some early morning munch action. The crêpe should look more or less like the various photos below. If you click on some of the photos, you will find more recipes online.

Crêpe Filling & Topping Options: Genius!

Depending on preference, crêpes can be loaded up with fillings and then rolled, folded in half or shaped into triangles. I personally prefer my crêpe simple - with a thin spread of jam and folded into triangles. If I really need a morning super boost (when I'm close to getting my period, for example), I put Nutella. I try my best not to get used to it. Operative word: I try. Below is an intensive list of crêpe toppings brought to us by www.sheknows.ca.

Picture Our shelf-full of home-made fruit jams c/o Yoann's mother. These fruits are from their garden, too! The genius of crêpes is that it is a highly simple recipe that is easily fancifiable at the same time. Don't believe me still? Go and try making it yourself and don't forget to tell us how it went. :)
