Yesterday was just perfect. We had a rare day off and decided to take a family day trip. We headed 1-1/2 hours South of Tucson to Patagonia Lake, our closest body of water. Sometimes, with living in the middle of the desert, you begin to crave being near water, so this was the nicest reprieve with very mild weather in this April Spring month.
When we first arrived at Patagonia Lake State Park, we headed straight to the Marina office to rent a motorized row boat for our family of four. It cost $40 for an hour, but CLICK HERE to see all of the other boating options and prices. You can see it was well worth the cost. Here are a few photos.
Our daughter was a little phobic of the boat tipping over, and perfect for National Sibling’s Day, our son couldn’t help teasing her. What in the world are we going to ever do with that boy?
When our boat time was over and the boat anxiety was put aside, we headed to the little beach that they have at the park, and our kids were in 7th heaven.
So were the grown ups.
A day at Patagonia Lake State Park is the perfect family outing. There is a ton of camping there, too, but reservations are required as it fills, up fast.
My song of the day is classic Otis Redding. His “Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay” describes the perfect lazy day on the water, and that is exactly what our special day was all about. Rest and relaxation just a little down the road from the Old Pueblo. Perfection!
