Slim Your VALENTINE’S DAY

Posted on the 14 February 2012 by Mattie @comfyconfident

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Before you rip open that box of chocolates your Valentine has given you, take a step back and remember how hard you have been working. Sure it is Valentine’s Day, and yes you can splurge (a little), just try to in moderation so you are not regretting it later and spending hours on the elliptical trying to burn off the 700 calories you just ate.

Here’s the low down on calories in some popular Valentine’s Day treats:
2 Hershey kisses = 50 cal
1 Dark chocolate dipped strawberry = 48 cal
1 Lindt truffle = 80 cal
7 Godiva milk chocolate hearts = 210 cal
1 Godiva truffle = 110 cal
1 Godiva liqueur truffle = 100 cal
1 small piece of chocolate fudge (1 piece, 0.6oz) = 70 calories
1 Chocolate martini  = 438 calories
1 pound box of chocolate = 1400 calories
A 2 pound box is 2800 calories! This equals almost a pound of fat…BAHHH

Tips to slim your Valentine’s Day
1. Valentine’s Day is about love, not food. Make the focus more on doing romantic things as opposed to overindulging in food and booze.

2. Indulge in moderation. The last thing you want to do on Valentine’s Day is to overindulge in chocolate, feel sick to your stomach, and get angry with yourself for losing control.

3. If you do receive a box of chocolates and like me have no control, eat only 1 or 2 pieces and then hid the box! Remind your man how a moment on the lips will end up on your hips! You have been working so hard to get to your feel good weight, indulging in Valentine’s Day chocolate won’t help the cause. To get rid of the chocolates, bring the sweet treats into work with you and share with your coworkers. That way you don’t eat them all and you can share the love with everyone!

4.Alternative Gifts Ideas:
Cook her a romantic (but healthy) dinner. End it with a glass of champagne and strawberries
Send her a dozen red rose instead of a dozen chocolates!

Sorry for the calorie heavy post!
I was looking up some facts and was shocked with what I found, so I wanted to share.
PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE Enjoy the holiday, just remember to think twice before eating that entire box of chocolates.

I asked my dad what he was getting my mom for Valentine’s Day and he said, “I am going to love her the same as every day…and maybe re-gift the card she gave me!”
Clearly, this is where I got my Valentine’s (and all holiday) Day spirit!
[Vinnie it is not my fault, I blame my dad!]

Tonight, Vinnie and I are going out to dinner at The Oar House to celebrate our love!
