Today, it is Father’s Day, and I am on the road and not with either one of the two fathers in my life that mean the world to me. It is hard to be away from both of them, and I have found myself thinking about them continuously this morning.
My own father is an incredibly talented sculptor with a personality as large as his artistic abilities. He is who I get my stubbornness from, but I also get my determination and creativity from him. He is an incredible man, and though at times we don’t see eye to eye, he is my Daddy, and I love him.
My husband is an incredible father. I love watching his relationship with our children, as he is quick to express how much he loves each of them. I think this quality is one of his best. Men characteristically are not known for sharing their feelings, but my husband makes certain that our kids are always feeling loved all the time and at every moment.
I am truly blessed to have these two very special men in my life, and I just wish I could give them real hugs and kisses today. So, here is the alternative. I will give them my song of the day.
My song today is a U2 song called “Sometimes You Can’t Make it On Your Own.” Bono wrote it for his Dad, and the song is basically about how his Dad is his rock…his back bone. This is how I feel about my Dad and my husband, and it is also how my children feel about their Daddy, too.” Click HERE to hear and watch this beautiful song on YouTube, and please help my wish these two great mean a very Happy Father’s Day. I love you both so much!
