Wake up and smell the flowers!
That is exactly what I did. I went for a quick run (only 20 minutes, but it’s BTN [better than nothing]) and the flowers smelt so good, they stopped me in my tracks. I feel like it’s been so long since I smelt fresh flowers! It instantly put a smile on my face.
It was nice to get outside and run but, I am in a bit of a workout rut. My LiveFit Trainer is on a slight hiatus (due to travel and my busy schedule) and it’s driving me crazy. I am struggling to motivate to workout and I’m starting to feel sluggish because of my lack of exercise but I don’t have the motivation to actually do something about it. I can feel the change in my body. It’s crazy how a couple ‘bad’ days can leave you feeling crappy.
Even though I’m not working out as much, I am still trying to eat well.
This morning, I had some oatmeal topped with cereal from the continental breakfast.
In the mix:
Oats
Hot water
1/4 banana
1 tbs Peanut Butter
Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes and Cherrios
It’s not always easy while on the road, but I have a couple tricks I try to stick to.
- Eat Breakfast – if I eat a healthy, filling breakfast it tends to set the standard for the day. Not only am I satisfied but I eat cleaner throughout the day. If I eat a small breakfast, like a banana or granola bar, I end up snacking on crappy food. Even though sometimes it can be hard to eat a big nutritious breakfast, I try to make an effort to do so because it really does help me eat better the rest of the day.
- Drink Water – I often forget to drink water when I am busy and traveling. If I make a conscious effort to drink more water, I have less of a desire to snack and I feel more full throughout the day. I will add Nuun tablets or Crystal Light to my water if I need a little flavor.
- Pack Snacks – While on the road, it can be hard to find healthy meals or snacks so I always try to have some in my bag just in case I get hungry. Eating a handful of almonds or a Larabar fulfills my hunger way more than a candy bar or chips and I don’t feel crappy afterwards. Sometimes it’s hard to eat the almonds over the chips but at the end of the day I always feel so much better.
On a different note, I am obsessed with the second book of the Hunger Games. I powered through the first book in the fall and just picked up the second book, Catching Fire. I can’t but it down! So so so good.
Question:
How do you stay healthy while on the road?
