Stay Satisfied

Posted on the 15 March 2012 by Mattie @comfyconfident

I don’t know about you but once I start eating, I never want to stop. I can have a great healthy dinner and afterwards still look through the cupboards for more food. I have developed a couple tricks to make me feel more satisfied so I don’t graze the night away.

Chew Gum: Sometimes after eating, I need to conclude the meal and graze for food trying to do that. Instead of snacking, I will have a piece of gum. It helps to stimulate my mouth, not snack and be satisfied.

Drink Tea: I love to drink Peppermint tea after dinner when I am fighting the urge to graze for food. Peppermint tea offers a minty refreshing light aroma and it is naturally caffeine free. A warm cup of tea satisfy’s me and relaxes me. Peppermint tea also possesses a lot of health benefits such as improving digestion, reducing heartburn and eases nausea.

Do the dishes: When all I want to do is reach into a box of Wheat Thins, I dig into the pile of dishes and distract myself from my cravings. Most of the time, I have eaten a complete dinner but just want to keep eating because it’s there, so to stop thinking about the chips and crackers I want to devour I clean the kitchen and scrub the dishes. By the time I am done, I have digested some of my food and the cravings have subsided.

Have a small treat: If all else fails, I have a small portion controlled treat to satisfy my sweet tooth. Hersey Dark Chocolate kisses are my favorite, in 9 kisses there are 180 calories so  I can have one or two and it’s only 40 calories.

If these tips don’t work and you do still end up digging into the pint of ice cream, don’t fret.
