Straightforward Answers

Posted on the 30 May 2013 by Missliabilities
Nothing bugs this accountant more when I can't get straightforward answers.
I cannot stand nonsense or blatant lies to the point where I will cut a person from my life for doing it. Take my colorful family for instance. My step-grandmother lasted in my social network as long as it took for her to send me a petition to kick the godless homosexuals out of America and send them to their own island. BLOCK. My cousin who rides around in a truck with two confederate flags flying and posts about murdering our president because he's black. BLOCK.
But when someone who is actually educated says something that throws me off - wow that's a treat! My one co-worker is extremely religious. That's great, when you keep it to yourself and don't make others feel uncomfortable. I don't mind when he says grace before every meal, or when you sneeze and he says "May our heavenly father always bless you." I mind when I'm trying to get a straight answer out of him!
Today's conversation:
Me: "Hey I hear you bought a house in the neighborhood I'd like to live near one day!"
Him: "Yes, I was blessed with this opportunity."
Me: "Did you look into how high property taxes are? Is your monthly mortgage pretty terrible? I've had friends locked into situations where it was outrageous."
Him: "God showed me to the right realtor for my purpose. Real estate taxes for the entire year are (extremely low amount) and my mortgage is only $700 a month."
Me: "$700 a month??? How did you manage to get that?"
Him: "I am blessed. I have put so much love and devotion into the church and my faith that I have been awarded with this blessing."
Me: "No seriously, did your realtor help you negotiate that amount? Did you put a huge downpayment down?"
Him: "No, really, I prayed and I was rewarded with this by our Father."
All right, I'm done listening to this. Too bad for him that he's probably going to get fired soon because he hasn't been praying enough for his tax skills to develop. I hope his next job is not as a realtor. I can only imagine: This is the house, this is the steeple, open inside.... and pray that God will fix the termite damage.
