Summer Goals!

Posted on the 07 June 2013 by Gray Eyed Athena @grayeyedowl

I was inspired by Gina’s Healthy Embrace GOALS! post and had to create one of my own.  I feel like I’ve learned, only this year, how to walk away from the grandiose NYE resolutions that inevitably fail, and instead allow myself to observe what intentions arise organically within myself.  And, as we all know, the key to meeting your goals is to make them measurable and attainable (and FUN), rather than insane and miserable.

This post will be in flux as I create new goals and meet others, and I’ve added a Goals tab to my website as well.

I want to enjoy the process of making my goals a reality, rather than feel sick to my stomach at the thought of failure.  This list is not meant to be an impossible task, rather, an enjoyable and possible set of things that will make me feel good upon completion.  And it’s not the end of the world if I don’t complete them, because after all, it’s summertime!

Summer Goals 2013

Lose 5 pounds a month for the next three months for a total of 15 pounds lost by September, for a grand total of 40 pounds lost since January 1.

Continue exercising 5 times a week, always including yoga (since it makes me feel not so crazypants!)

Use my beautiful bike more, including bike rides to the beach and back.

Soak up as much sun as is physically possible.

See a sunrise.

Continue to track meals and calories faithfully, staying at 600-1000 a day.

After being abstinent all winter (from alcohol), keep the summer drinks to 1-2 times a week.  I don’t have an issue with alcohol at all, but it’s just easier to drink more in the summer and I don’t like the way I feel when I drink nor do I like the liquid calories.

Be able to stay in an unsupported hand stand for at least a minute.

Hopefully work up to completing a full yoga bridge.

Say YES to as many opportunities for summer fun as possible.  Make the weekends count!

Stay the course!
