Teacher I Need You, #751

Posted on the 05 August 2013 by Juliezaz1 @juliezaz1

This week is all about teachers.  For me, this is the week when I have staff meetings with fellow teachers…some that I have not seen for the whole summer.  This is the week when I am doing a lot of my planning for the first several weeks of the school year hoping to come in like gang busters to “wow” these minds that suck up knowledge like sponges.  This is the week where I get to bounce my ideas off of the experts in the field.

Teachers are an incredible breed of people.  They are creative and passionate and on a selfless mission, and I love surrounding myself with them.  For me, my job as a music teacher is not 100% about the children.  There is also a part of it that introduces me to the most special people.  Yep, I have the best job ever….through and through.

I look back at my own teachers from my childhood, and I strive to be like many of them.  Afterall, if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.  I can only hope for the same when we meet my children’s teachers later on this week.

So, today I am saluting teachers with Elton John’s song “Teacher I Need You.”  Perhaps Elton John and/or Bernie Taupin were a little “hot for teacher” when they wrote this song, but they are definitely putting their teacher up on a pedestal, and that is what I want to achieve with my blog today, too.  So, click HERE to go to Youtube to hear this Elton John classic, and everyone…go hug a teacher today!
