Temple Of Remembrance

Posted on the 03 June 2015 by Sreesha @petrichor_blore
Tall pillars lit by a hundred candles
Casting shadows that make me feel so small
But my thoughts of you seem to grow
Larger than the shadows of the old that's gone
Larger than the ghost of the laughter that never goes
You don't fade from within my mind; it's a flaw
That I dwell on each moment, cling to you
Like smoke escaping my fingers while the candles burn them raw
While every cell and every vein in me screams in agony
That when your voice sings to me from the haze, you're long gone.
I've come now to this temple to dare the gods to offer me solace
Wait and watch if they tell me to forget you, for
In their kingdom you're happier; yes, I dare the gods to tell me that.
There are so many dawns
You were yet to see; so many tales I am yet to share,
The candles lie with their light; how fickle they are, do they know not?
And yet I remember how they cast their golden light on you
Peaceful; memories from painful branches fall
To torment me as I am left behind
Waiting, waiting for a lonely dusk to join you in your cloudy world.
