Sometimes I feel sorry for guys. It is so much fun being female and having fun with your gal pals. Last night my daughter had a friend sleep over. They painted nails, talked about boys and giggled well into the night. I can’t help but watch them and think about the years and years of sleep overs I had with my girlfriends and how watching them is like history repeating itself. It is refreshing to know that girls will be girls and that I can always count on that. There is nothing like a good girl friend.
Today is a laundry day, as I’m packing up my daughter for one more run of overnight camp before the summer ends. This time she is headed to Girl Scout camp, and I can only imagine what a dozen or so Girl Scouts in a cabin would entail. It is one thing to watch over a cabin of girls at a co-ed camp, but girls, girls, girls all day long – oh my! I am excited for my little one to have some good old fashioned girl time, as I can only dream of all the fun she will be having.
It is harder as you get older to spend time with your girl friends. There are too many other responsibilities that get in the way. I miss girl friend time. So, dear daughter, enjoy these special moments, because they are irreplaceable. Make your friends now and carry them with you into your adult life. Giggle to your heart’s content. There’s nothing better.
