"The Activity of Writing Changes Everything." Joyce Carol Oates #Quote, Prompts & More at The Passionate Writer

Posted on the 10 July 2014 by Juliejordanscott @juliejordanscot

You have found your way to the Passionate Writer - a series of prompts, quotes and more for the writer (or person who wants to write) with more passion. More details are below today's inspiration.

You are welcome here!

Image Prompt: Imagine yourself sitting here, beside this tree, as Molly is doing here. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell? What a-ha's do you awaken? "The activity of writing changes everything." Joyce Carol Oates

 Quote:

I have forced myself to begin writing when I've been utterly exhausted, when I've felt my soul as thin as a playing card…and somehow the activity of writing changes everything.”

― Joyce Carol Oates

 Questions:

What is your normal first, second and third creative choice when you are utterly exhausted?

How willing are you to create when your “soul is as think as a playing card”?

Bonus: At some point this week, purposefully intend to write while tired just to experiment with this assertion from Joyce Carol Oates. Try it more than once to see what happens.

 Lists:

List 3 to 10 times when taking action (even while tired) changed things in a positive manner.

List 3 to 10 projects you are currently procrastinating on. Choose one and take one teensy tinsy action and then write about it. Be open to continuing along with getting things done - and continue to write as you go.

Conventional Writing Prompt

When I consider writing when I am very tired, I….

I am surprised when I am energized by…. Because…. (repeat up to three times)

As always, continue to visit and revisit to prompts. The more you come back and write again, the deeper and more clear your words will become.
