So if you read my post from last week, you know that I agreed to do something a bit off the beaten path. Over a glass (or three) of wine with a friend, I agreed to take questions from you all and answer them – no holds barred. The only questions I wouldn’t answer were those that were rude or really raunchy (for the sake of my mother). Luckily, you all have much more class than myself and no one did ask any of those type of questions.
Because I receive over 25 questions on Facebook and some more on the blog, I thought I would divide them over a few posts. I’ll answer the first bunch here and the next few bunches later in the week or so. Brace yourself people. You might find out some scary stuff here. Or you might pee yourself. It’s a toss up.
I’m always curious what people’s days are like. What’s a typical day look like for you? I know… I’m a nerd. (from Stacia at Dried on Milk)
Well, I wake up at 10 a.m. with bluebirds singing around my head. They help me put on my flowery bathrobe and we go to wake up my happy, cheerful children. They tell me they love me as they cook their own breakfast and turn my newspaper as I read it. We then skip to their school while singing verses from “The Sound of Music”. I then kiss each of them on the cheek goodbye and then clean my house with the help of the forest animals.
What is the BEST place to park your minivan and enjoy a martini? What’s the best kind of martini to have when you’re parked in your minivan? Is there an ideal martini to kiddo ratio? Say 1:1 or 2:1 (if you have 1 kid, have 1 martini; 2 kids, have 4 martinis?) Should you have a designated driver with you? Or the name of a good cab company? (from Norine at Science of Parenthood)
This answer is very simple. The best place to park your minivan and enjoy a martini is anywhere your children are not. Whether that is right after preschool drop off while still in the parking lot, or perhaps it is while recovering after watching a two hour dance recital. I never recommend actually drinking a martini then driving. However, I highly recommend drinking a martini and sitting outside a room full of sleeping children.

A perfect day starts with…? A perfect day ends with…? (from Jennifer at The Runaway Mama)

Please describe your worst Shitastrophy that forced you to get a Martini ASAP! (from Alyson at The Shitastrophy)

Being from a travel blog, what is your favorite trip memory with or without the family, or both? (from Lisa at The Walking Tourists)
My favorite trip has yet to occur. It’s where we get to take our kids to Disney World and have fun all day. Then, when they start to meltdown and become raging lunatics, the Disney Princesses all come out and say, “Here, let us take them to the castle for the night and you two go drink cocktails and eat hamburgers shaped like Mickey ears.” I’m waiting for that vacation package to be offered…
Ok, that’s all for now folks… Stay tuned, more insightful answers coming soon…
