The Art of the Pumpkin

Posted on the 02 October 2012 by Thealyway @DarlingRaquel
Happy October to you! October is one of my favorite months to get into the holiday decorating mindset. SisterT and I have been picking up little things here and there for the past few weeks to decorate our home with.
I love seeing pumpkins on porches, at the bottom of trees, in groupings on dining room tables, etc. But there is one pumpkin decoration I don't like... natural Jack-O-Lanterns. In the Midwest, we sometimes have October days topping 80 degrees Fahrenheit, which makes a cut-up pumpkin quite the attraction for ants and flies. I also don't like when Jack-O-Lanterns start to decay and shrivel up, not attractive.
I prefer the electric or battery powered options, which are safer and more economical; you can use them year after year.
Here is a picture of some of our Halloween items in the dining room.
The Art of the PumpkinMrs. Darcy and I picked up the apple-cinnamon scented stack from the grocery store, and it makes the entire room smell delicious. I picked up the wreath, the indoor wreath hanger (LOVE THIS), and pumpkin candle with SisterT for a steal! Mrs. Darcy surprised us with the little owl pumpkin, which she placed on top of the Zebra book/storage boxes.

The Art of the PumpkinThe Pioneer Woman recently had velvet pumpkins on her blog, and I thought they were wonderful. I had never seen them before. I really like the plum pumpkins; I could see Jane Austen decorating with these.

The Art of the PumpkinThis grouping is from a local decorating store called, Three French Hens. They are very popular in my neck-of-the-woods, and carry unique items.
