Learning different time signatures is a great way to utilize rhythm sticks, and on this beautiful Christmas Eve of 2013, I give you all “The Christmas Waltz;” a perfect way to illustrate 3/4 time.
All waltzes are written in 3/4 time. We count them 1-2-3, 1-2-3 over and over again. It is a perfect rhythm to tap out on rhythm sticks. Here are a picture of traditional rhythm sticks.

Show your child how to tap out a 3/4 time meter. Show them what it looks like on paper, too. Here’s a picture of what it looks like.
Now, play Frank Sinatra singing “The Christmas Waltz” for them. Click HERE to find it on Youtube. As the song plays, have your child try to tap out the 3/4 time 1-2-3 time signature along to the music. They will learn all about 3/4 time, will have fun doing it and will celebrate Christmas all at the same time.
