Yesterday I did something so incredibly dumb I have to share it with you.
I drove a couple of hours away to run the Lausanne 20km race, it goes up and down around Lausanne old town, it was raining too.
That's dumb I agree but it got worse, much worse.
I followed all the deviation parking signs and found a cozy space on the edge of a car park.
I left the car and joined a joyous crowd heading towards the stadium where the race started.
I won't bore you with the details of dashing around the town under the pouring rain, although I was very pleased with my time, and also very pleased to find a bag of warm clothes waiting for me after the finishing line.
I then followed the other bedraggled runners shuffling back to their cars, until the group thinned... and thinned.
Just before I ended up following some lone guy into his house I realised I was lost.
I had no idea where exactly I'd parked the car.
How dumb.
An hour after the race finished I was wandering around the town still in the rain, in the dark, mentally kicking myself, blubbering and shivering.
When I finally found it I nearly kissed the damn thing.
They say there's no such thing as failure, just a learning experience.
I learnt something very important last night.
