What in the world makes a trend…a trend? I just can’t even imagine how some trends get started. Take this one for instance:
The accent nail.
I love this trend. Why should all nails be painted the same after all? What I want to know though is who thought it up and how did it get started? According to my online research, “the accent nail” first became popular on runways when models were wearing jewels on the one ring finger nail. Somehow, the everyday manicure customer just started painting one nail a different hue.
“The Harlem Shake” is another crazy trend. According to the UK’s publication, “The Independent,” here’s the origin of “The Harlem Shake:”
…the Harlem Shake becoming an internet phenomenon, watched by more than 700 million people around the world in just one month. On 2 February, the first comedy video featuring five Australian teenagers dancing wildly around a room to a track called “Harlem Shake” was uploaded to the video-sharing site YouTube.
Today, I am raising my glass to out-of-the-box thinkers who maybe, by accident, create instant sensations. By luck and innovation, these people have made some sort of dent in our everyday molds, and crazy or not….I love them. That is why my song of the day is none other than “The Harlem Shake.” Click HERE to watch the “Top 10″ best Harlem Shake videos ever made. Here today and probably gone tomorrow…but something we will never forget that has gone down as part of our pop culture.
