I still have a hard time grappling with the fact that Michael Jackson is gone. He may have lived a controversial life, but no one can argue his talent. Today is the 5 year anniversary of his death, and I can’t think of a better way to acknowledge my 1000th “Song of the Day” blog post than with a song from the King of Pop.
I remember the day Jackson died so clearly. I learned of his death while I was sitting home alone, and I called my husband immediately. I was watching the story unfold on the TV before me and relaying it to him. We were both stunned, and it is all we could talk about for days. Losing Michael Jackson felt like Don McClean’s infamous statement….”the day the music died.”
This blog is based on music, because is so bound to my heart. Music touches me with every emotion. How apropos that my blog would reach a milestone on the 5 year death anniversary of one of the greatest musician’s of all time. It is huge screaming reminder of why I do what I do.
So, this 1000th blog post is dedicated to the memory of someone who filled the world with music and used the power of song to its fullest potential. Amen to that!
