Our Monday nights have become increasingly late nights for my family. My children are Cub Scouts/Brownies, and Mondays are “Scout night.” During the summer, the Cub Scouts take a break, but the Brownie troop still meets every other week.
The troops meet right at dinner time, so we eat a quick snack beforehand and have developed a ritual of going to Subway for a quick and easy bite to eat afterwards. The staff working there has come to know us, and it is always the same every week. My son wants turkey, my daughter wants tuna, and my hubby and I split some form of a foot long. The air conditioning blasts with an overhead fan spinning and rattling our paper sandwich wrappers. We are always too cold and huddle in a booth together munching merrily and wiping tired sleep from our eyes after a long day.
I love Subway nights. To most, it may sound dull, but to us, it is our Monday night ritual, and it belongs to my family. I love it.
So….to honor our dull family moments packed with rich together time, my song of the day is for the Subway food franchise. ”The M.T.A.” by the Kingston Trio is the best subway song that I know, so I think it is perfect for this occasion. Click HERE to go to Youtube to hear it, and please enjoy your family time, too, no matter how dull it can be.
