The Rise of the Brony

GREETINGS EVERYPONY I HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!!
Two days ago I was surfing the web as usual, looking for my next good blogging topic when I struck gold! I was answering questions on yahoo answer, I found a question saying "Why are there so many anti-bronies?" I had no idea what a brony was; So I was intrigued, it isn't everyday that I find something new and interesting. If you don't know what a brony is basically it is a grown man who is a fan of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I shit you not, and this isn't just one or two guys with a weird obsession if you search on youtube some of the episodes have 100's of thousands even millions of views! I found this to be a fascinating phenomenon! I mean it is one thing for a cartoon meant for little girls to be popular, but for its audience to consist mainly of men over the age of 15!!! That is the most amazingly fucked up thing I have ever seen!
So for the last few days I have been obsessively searching to find the cause for this societal mishap that created an entire sub-culture of grow-ass men who obsess over Twilight Sparkle and her 5 close friends Rainbow Dash, Flutter-Shy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Apple-Jack. And no I did not have to look those names up (except Apple-Jack I always forget her name) I have them committed to memory. And I'm not overly happy about that. I started by watching a few clips which didn't really catch my attention, But then I decided that the only way to get in the head of a brony, was to become a brony my self. Was this some hipster ironic thing? It couldn't possibly be real could it? What is it about this show that has guys glued to the TV watching cute little pink ponies prancing around? I wanted to find the answers to these questions and more!
So, I started with the first episode (obviously) and watched 20 episodes before I started writing this. If you're not a TV enthusiast, That is over 7 and a half hours; I have been sitting in bed watching my little pony for the last 7 and a half waking hours of my life, and I can honestly say that I don't think I am going to stop now that I have finished my research. My worst fear starting this experiment was that I would become a brony, but I am not ashamed to say that I have, I am from this moment on officially joining the brother hood of Bronyism.
My answers to the questions I asked earlier are YES, this is real, grown men do like this show non-ironically!! (at least I hope so because that would be awkward if I'm wrong!! lol) If you can get past the fact that this is a show for little girls it is actually a pretty good show! The characters are well developed and easy to relate to, it has a decent story line, and it's funny in a cute way and it makes you feel good about life, and there is a good lesson about friendship and relationships in every episode that can apply to adult life as well as to children.
If you are open minded and enjoy TV, I recommend that you check it out seriously! give it a chance and you will be shouting FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC!!!! all day long. It's not "gay", you won't be criticized, I don't recommend bringing it up on a first date BTW, but don't be ashamed to like something just because of stereotypes, you should be free to like whatever you like! Goodbye everypony, I hope you had a wonderful time reading this and take a lesson from all of the ponies in ponyville, there is nothing more powerful then the magic of friendship! <3
