Part one
Its another monday and for a change, i'm not feeling like i just got hit by a bus( not that i know what being hit by a bus feels like but....... i'm sure its bad.)it's been a very busy morning but i pulled myself together to put this post together cause it's content inspired me for the week.(See what i did there? hehe)
For a while, i had stopped reading my bible cause of the ancient excuse of "busy-ness" but I've decided it is very important that i make time for God in that way so I've jumped back into it. I was overwhelmed at first staring at that massive book, thinking....Where do i begin?...In the beginning...hehe just kidding. I started with 1st John as advised by my mom and decided to blog about the things that stick out to me as I read this book.
In a nutshell, the book of John in the bible is a series of answers to doubts about who Jesus is. John was a disciple of Jesus and was with him throughout his ministry on earth so he was very suited to write this book. I've decided to do 3 separate post on this topic in a series to make it easier to take in. In this first part, I'll simply define what "things of the world" are. Then in the second post, I'll explain what the bible has got to say about the these things, which i picked up as i read 1st John.
What are "things of the world" or "worldly desires" or "earthly things"?
Worldly-Pertaining to this world or life, in contradistinction from the life to come; secular; temporal; devoted to this life and its enjoyments; bent on gain; as, worldly pleasures, affections, honor, lusts,
worldly-minded? absorbed in or concerned with material things or matters that are immediately relevant-Online Dictionary
I still like my future car though(Bottom one). This one. this one! this one!!
But the red one is some pretty close competition! Okay thats enough! I could carry on posting hundreds of pictures to identify worldly things but i'm sure you get the idea now(Plus work is closing in like 5mins..hihihi). From big things like drugs,porn and alcohol to smaller things like bags and shoes-all things of the world.In the century in which we live in it is sooo extremely easy to fall prey to idolising earthly things. Men are out there who neglect their families and watch porn instead, Children refuse to spend time with family and play video games the whole day, Women go bankrupt and in dept for being "shopaholics". Even people are being idolised. Example- Justin Bieber ( not against him, i'm just being honest), Nelson Mandela ( A man announced on tv that he would die for Nelson Mandela!) It is really a crazy world. Loving earthly things and putting them first before God is not Ok.They only bring false happiness.What is real happiness you may ask?hehehe You gotta wait and read Part 2Much Much Love Thandi xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox
