(I started this on Four-Legged Mom before I "retired" it, and thought I'd bring it here. Sorry if you've already seen the first 3 segments.)

Some of you may or may not know that I'm a first time pit bull owner, not dog, but pit bull. Titan is classified as a "pit bull" although his bloodline is American Bulldog & American Staffordshire Terrier. No difference, you see him.... you say "pit bull" and I'm cool with that. Back to my story.......
It was August 2010. I was getting ready to re-enroll into college after 20 years. Time to finish my degree. All was good on the home front and I was determined to do it. At the time, we were a one (1) tom cat home. Jaggar, my pride and joy, was a 16 lb. american shorthair and only 8 years old. He had some teeth removed and continued to have issues. Upon xrays, found out his lungs filled up with fluid, vet said a cancer of some sort. At this point, there was nothing we could do but euthanize. Broke my heart and my hubs for that. See, we don't have children, at home at least (hubs has a daughter in OK). So our animals are our children. The loss left our home empty, lonely, all the routines we developed over the years......shattered.
The Titan Chronicles, Part 1 Within a week, I made a decision to get another animal. I talked to the hubs about it. No way could we have another tom cat King of our Castle. I have had cats for so many years, it was time to get a dog. But what kind? I wanted one that was not too big, could protect us if need be, had minimal health issues, and a pretty long life span. I started scanning pet finder. I stumbled upon this lil beautiful doggy named "Teddy".
I immediately starting emailing the rescue that had him. I find out that he has been "homed" twice, is housebroken, and his name is Teddy.  The rescue
was out-of-state. I ask about the adoption process...yada yada yada. We emailed back and forth for almost 2 weeks before I went to see him. See, when I first contacted them, someone had their "eyes" on him. I discussed the possibilities of "Teddy" with my hubs. Neither one of us ever had a pit bull. Our yard wasn't fence yet. We we ready?
I went one night after work to see him and spent almost 2 hours there. The first half hour was checking him out in his kennel, debating to put my finger to the cage cause he was intimidating looking and has a slightly "off" eye. Eventually started with a finger and talking. He's definitely insecure. Finally got him out of the cage and outside. Oh my, no leash manners but he is ADORABLE!
The Titan Chronicles, Part 1 Back to his cage he goes and I get a lil more info on him. Someone was also there looking at him. UGH! I took pics and sent em to my hubs who was at home. Hubs said, "Bring him home. " No we couldn't do that! No color, no food, no bowls, nothing had been prepared!
I finally waited to talk to the adoption counselor. She was the one I had been emailing all this time. I told her "I want Teddy." She was sooooo happy that I wanted him! Because the place was closing and again, I was far from prepared at home (except for cat dishes and toys), we agreed I would come the first thing in the a.m. to get him. I went back and said "Bye bye baby boy. I'll be back tomorrow to get you." He looked sad when I left, I felt absolutely horrible...........
