The Day that changed our lives.... forever!
The ride home from the rescue seemed forever. It's like an hour ride but felt much longer. When I got home, the hubs and I talked about the adoption again and instantly started thinking names and everything I needed to pick up in the morning. See, I took vacation the next day so I could get my baby boy and bring him home. :)
I had planned on shopping in the morning, food and all that good stuff, getting "Teddy", bring him home and start loving on him. By morning, a name still was not set in stone. I figured, once I got him, I would ask him what names he liked. Yes, I'm strange but Teddy was just UCK! His prior name was Lucky, and as I find out much later he was not so lucky in that home.
I couldn't sleep at all. I set the alarm early. I want to bring that lil baby boy HOME! To his FOREVER home! I gathered all his goodies: food, bowls, toys, treats, collar, and leash. What a lucky boy he's going to be! I had to take the hubs truck to get him because I had a Ranger with no back seat. The hubs truck was much bigger. I get to the rescue and go back to see my bubba boy.
His face was priceless when he saw me! He was sooooo happy! He remembered me!!! He was probably thinking... "She did come back for me!" The paperwork was processed, bought him a body harness instead and off we go. In the truck we go and he is happy. Of course, I'm talking to him. He was very good in the truck! Here he is saying bye bye and headed to his new home!
He was so good riding in the truck. I was talking away to him, asking him about names and such. He finally calmed down and laid down for a while. Then he got back up and decided to give me our first ever KISS!
This was totally awesome!! How brave I was to allow a pit bull this close to my face on Day 1! haha I knew there was a special bond here. No doubt about it. He was happy to be rescued! I was happy to have another baby to love! What a fabulous day!
We finally get home and first things first. I walk him around the front yard and see if he has to pee. Yup, he sho did! Then to bring him inside. I had planned to bring him in, let him off the leash and investigate.
I should have known by THIS pic, what was in store for us! Does that pic NOT say, "I AM THE KING OF THE CASTLE?" I go over to him and just jabbering away like he understands what I'm saying. Yeah, he wants to show me who's boss!
This is a playful pic, mind you but doesn't that just say "LOOK AT MY TEEF! I CAN EAT YOU IF I DON'T GET MY WAY!" :)
