The Top 5 Places to Visit in Texas

Posted on the 25 July 2012 by Brittany_tyd @Brittany_TYD
Hi y'all! My  name is Amanda and I'm the creative mind behind Royal Daughter Designs. This is me:
The Top 5 Places to Visit in Texas I'm a country girl, farming and ranching on 8 beautiful Texas acres. My husband, Mr. E., is a minister and a seminary professor and  I'm a small business owner and graduate student. I'm a has-been foster mom, a self-proclaimed animal lover, laundry procrastinator, sweet tea junkie, and high-heel hater.
I'm a fourth generation Texan. My husband is a transplanted Texan, originally from the Show Me State (Missouri). While I'm not one of those Texans who says "God loved me more because I was born in Texas" I do think that Texas has a lot to offer! So if you're ever planning a trip to Texas, here's the top five places I recommend visiting:
1. Sea World.- San Antonio My husband and I visited Sea World for our anniversary this year and we had the best time! The park is uber-clean, the shows are beyond entertaining, and the employees are incredibly helpful. (Adjective overload? Maybe so, but hey - I loved Sea World!)

Take a change of clothes! You will get wet!

2. Texas State Fair - Fair Park (outside of Dallas)
The State Fair of Texas is sort of the epitome of all things Texas. From livestock shows to tractor shows, you don't get more "Texas" than the State Fair! There are quilt shows, photography contests, and a smorgasbord of of yummy (and mostly fried) foods. If you ride the ferris wheel, be sure to do it around sunset - it offers a beautiful view of downtown Dallas!

3. Lockheart Gables Bed & Breakfast - Fort Worth
This is our favorite B&B at which we've ever stayed! I think we've spent a total of 3 romantic weekends at Lockheart Gables. With heart-shaped whirlpool tubs in the room, and the option to have breakfast in bed, instead of in the dining room, the entire experience is romantic, relaxing, and just generally wonderful.

4. Texas State Railroad - Rusk (East Texas)
If you visit TSR, e-mail me and let me know! I live close enough that we could plan to meet up and have coffee! The ride through the Pineywoods of East Texas is beautiful in the spring, when the Dogwood trees are blooming, and in the fall when the leaves are changing color. The steam locomotive is quaint and great for the imagination!

5. Buc ee's (All Over) Yes, I am going to recommend a gas station in the same post I recommend a B&B. I'm just cool like that. Buc-ee's is an experience all in itself. Shopping. Eating. Clean bathrooms. That last one is the gem of it all, in fact Buc-ee's whole marketing campaign is basically "The cleanest public restrooms you've ever seen." And while I mocked the billboards for years, it is true. The bathrooms are immaculate. Don't miss this little-known Texas treasure!
So if I were going to visit your state, where should I go? I'd love for you to let me know!
Be blessed, and be a blessing,
Amanda

Isn't she so sweet? Now I definitely need to take a vacation to Texas! Thank you SO much for being here today, Amanda! (Also, if you're in the market for a new blog design, Amanda did mine and I may be biased, but I think it's gorgeous!)
