Things That Have Remarkably Changed Since 2010

Posted on the 06 June 2013 by Desiree Munoz @createpinoy
1. Internet takes up most of my time.
2. I equally dig arts and sciences.
3. I hardly drink Coke.
4. I cook.
5. I enjoy watching Rugby.
6. I love nature.
7. Animals fascinate me.
I have yet to decode the meaning of these changes and the reason behind some of them. I know that cooking saves money but I also enjoy the process of doing something, getting the delicious reward after and sharing it with someone. Yoann loves Rugby and he is my only influence in liking the sport, which was not made any difficult by the big guys playing it. The love of nature, I'm bound to think, symbolizes my relentless feeling of homesickness. I have traveled extensively around the Philippines and would you believe me if I say Europe's natural landscape is only far second to the diversity and beauty of our natural wonders? Here and now, I hereby declare myself the founder and leader of PPP, Perennially Proud Pinoys.
I always knew Coke is not healthy but I loved it anyways. It's our family's all-time favorite drink (even "dessert") back home. It was part of my combo reward, together with Pancit Canton, after a long day at school during my college days. A good meal is incomplete without a Coke cap-off. Come to think of it, it's like the habit of the French to have coffee every after meal, except the similarity starts and stops there. Coffee is definitely different from Coke, one. And Coke is drank from start up to end of the meal, to name a few differences. I don't exactly know how but during my stay in The Netherlands, I just started drinking less and less Coke.
I did move to Europe when I was 26 turning 27, but it was also during this period that I was left all by myself. And the weather outside was ice cold even made more unbearable by strong winds and rain. The exact opposite of what I was used to since birth. I remember walking on winter nights around the neighborhood of Kortenaerkade and I would feel transported inside the storybook of Beauty and the Beast. That scene when Belle was walking in the forest and the bare, dark trees looking so grimly at her. I tell you, winter trees are scary! They have no leaves and their dark branches stick out naked in all directions. Their darkness is highlighted by a pale street lamp behind a moonless night. I would walk around 8 in the evening and there will be no one on the street aside from me. The shops close at around 5:00 pm. An occasional person with a hood would pass by on a bike. Or I would pass by a very still, almost dead-like homeless guy on the sidewalk and that's about it. I never felt that deserted my entire life. I didn't have friends, no family, no one to talk to, no one to bother. I couldn't even understand the television. And there are no buts, I was alone. I had to make decisions for myself, by myself.

Turning 27 and moving to Europe must've been a coincidence but I'm starting this list anyways. How about you? What changes have you noticed in yourself lately?
