This Old Dog is Bound and Determined to Learn Some New Tricks!

Posted on the 28 October 2012 by Juliejordanscott @juliejordanscot

Perfect moment for some stream of consciousness writing.

SocsundaynewToday our prompt is:

What new tricks would you like to learn or have you learned?

I would like to learn how to use a drill… well. I want to be able to hang curtain rods and new curtains. This doesn’t seem like it should be all that hard, but so far, I haven’t mastered it. It would help to own a drill or just borrow a friend’s drill for a weekend or so, I suppose.

I would like to learn how to Speak Italian. Seriously, I have wanted to go there so badly and I believe it honors the country to do as well with the language as I possibly can.

I would like to learn how to fly a kite. Can you believe I have never flown one?

I would like to learn how to use a really exceptional Digital SLR camera, you know the ones you can change lenses with and get crystal clear, amazing photos? I WANT THAT!

I would like to learn how to write grants so I could teach writing in prisons and halfway houses and anyplace where people need to learn how to communicate better (which is everywhere!)

I would like to learn how to play guitar… again. I was always a strummer and I would like to be a picker.

I would like to learn how to make my hair look prettier.

I would like to learn how to…. Grow things better. Or maybe have the patience to grow things better. I’ve been doing well with my houseplants but how I would love to have a beautifully smelling garden.

I would like to learn how to help my love feel better. He is going through a feeling bad spell and I don’t know how to feel better and keep moving even when moving feels oh so impossible.

I would like to learn how to make bookshelves and a window seat and cabinets,

Wow, I have a lot of new tricks I would like to learn!

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Add the Stream of Consciousness Sunday badge to your post (find it at Jana's Thinking Place). .
  • Link up your post there, too.
  • Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.
