Top Holiday Songs

Posted on the 07 December 2012 by Missliabilities
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the wonderful songs that accompany it every year. A radio station near my hometown plays holidays songs 24 hours a day from Thanksgiving to Christmas - it's FANTASTIC. My favorite memories of Christmas day are of waking up in the dark early morning hours with the sound of Bing Crosby crooning on our house sound system. I'm a fan of the classics and very picky when it comes to artists creating their own holiday albums with mangled classic songs on them.
Here are a few of my favorite songs which can be sung by anyone and I still adore them:
Baby it's cold outside - I have the Jessica Simpson version on my iPod and it's such a sweet quick duet about a cold winter night. M and I's parents live a mile apart in a town that snows heavily 8 months of the year and I'm always trying to convince him to stay at my place and sleep. This song channels that battle very well with our roles switched ;).
Sleigh Ride - This gets you into the Christmas spirit with the cheerful lyrics and bouncy music. No matter how many times I hear this song I still get a big goofy smile and dance to it.
Do you hear what I hear? - Though I love classic versions, Destinys Child sold this song for me. Still not sure why I love this song so much, but it sounds so pretty.
Carol of the Bells - For a Christmas gift one year, my boyfriend at the time got me Trans Siberian orchestra tickets and they still rank in my top favorite gifts (look out for that blog). If you've never been to one of their concerts, go and check them out! Lasers, electric guitars, holiday music - what's not to love? This is one of the beautiful songs they play. Also, I played this song on the French horn in our junior high band - when all the instruments played together this song kind of captures you up and fills your soul.
O Holy Night - So beautiful. When the verse "Fall on your knees" is sung I get goosebumps. This is my all time favorite Christmas song. It does not matter who sings this song - not even Ke$ha could ruin this song for me :)
What are some of your favorites?
