Yesterday, I was listening to the radio, and a Toad the Wet Sprocket song came on. I always really liked this band back in the ’90′s and as my natural curiosity always leads me down this path, I had to find out what happened to them. Yay! They are still around and making music. Here’s what I found out.
The band broke up in 1998, but it seems that they toured together from time to time from 2006-2010. They released a greatest hits album called “All You Want” in 2011, and finally….they are currently recording a new album and plan to tour in 2013. There is still 8 months left to 2013, so I will patiently wait for the news.
I always thought that Toad the Wet Sprocket was one of those bands who wrote really intelligent songs with simple, but beautiful melodies. Their 5 studio albums sold over 4 million copies and had 5 radio hits, but somehow, they never reached mega household name recognition. They were overlooked in my opinion, and I really look forward to hearing some new material by them. It’ll be awesome to see how they’ve grown.
Anyhow…my song of the day is TTWS’s “Walk On The Ocean.” It’s a beautiful song and even John Mayer covered it at one point in his career. Click HERE to listen to it on Youtube, and take note once again of this really great band. Here’s their website to follow: http://www.toadthewetsprocket.com/. Enjoy the music!
