Walking Out

Walking Out
When I first read the phrase, "Walking out" or any variation-I presume bad news.
For example, "She walked out on him because she couldn't stand the abuse anymore"
Or, "He walked out on her, because he didn't think he could handle a family"
See?
Bad news.
But, walking out on something is taking initiative, and in some cases it's the best thing you could ever do.
I dunno if I shared this or not, but two weeks ago this Thursday I celebrated one whole year, 365 days of being clean from my addiction.
Let me tell you, three-hundred-and-sixty-five days is a vveerrryyy looonnnggg tiimmee
I could tell you some far spun story about my discovering some hidden meaning in  some verse, or some mentor saying something inspirational-but none of that would be true.
I will tell, you that old Indian tale, talking about "Which Wolf to Feed?"
Well, it's not easy-but if you starve the Addiction Wolf, it disappears.
In essence, you could say, after this past year of fighting-I walked out of the Darkness
and into the Marvelous Light.
I am not who I once was
Defined by all the things I've done
Afraid my shame would be exposed
Afraid of really being known
But then you gave my heart a home So I walked out of the darkness and into the light
From fear of shame into the hope of life
Mercy called my name and made a way to fly
Out of the darkness and into the light With years of keeping secrets safe
Wondering if I could change
'Cause when you're hiding all alone
Your heart can turn into a stone
And that's not the way I want to go So I walk out of the darkness and into the light
From fear of shame into the hope of life
Mercy called my name and made a way to fly
Out of the darkness and into the light There's no place I would rather be
Your light is Marvelous
Your light is Marvelous You have come to set us free
You are Marvelous
Your light is Marvelous [lalalalalalalala...] So I walked out of the darkness and into the light
From fear of shame into the hope of life
Mercy called my name and made a way to fly
Out of the darkness and into the light [lalalalalalalala...]
Ellie Holcomb-Marvelous Light
Sometimes, all it takes is your initiative-With a little Mercy from the Big Guy upstairs, Papa God, to nudge you in the right direction.
This song resonates with the very depths of my soul-I hope it does something for you too!
Godbless,
LizB
