Weekly Workout Recap June 22

Posted on the 22 June 2012 by Mattie @comfyconfident

Its Friday Friday Friday!

This week has flown by. I have done a decent job eating well, working out and listening to my body.

Here is a recap of my workouts this week!

Sunday:
Ribfest 5 miler - such a fun race! I realized that I need to do more races because I run way faster and harder than normal and if I want to increase my pace I need to push myself more. If races is how I can do that, more races is the answer! Now I just need to go sign up for some.

Monday:
30 minutes elliptical

Tuesday:
yoga in the morning
30 minute run after work

Wednesday:
Interval Workout. This is part of my half marathon trying. It’s great because hopefully it will help me improve my pace. I would not do workout like this unless it was planned and  on a schedule.

30 minute walk after work

Thursday:
6 mile run in the heat! After being cooped up inside all day, I felt like getting a good sweat session in.

I am loving my Oakley sunglasses and Lululemon headband. They kept the sweat out of my eyes and nothing moved!

This run was one of those runs where you learn a lot about yourself. Typically I run without music, but occasionally I really like to tune out, blast music and run. But I usually don’t use music because I like to lose myself in my thoughts and enjoy the entire experience. Today, I ran with music. The first 3 miles were great! I was loving the beats and rocking out, but at mile 3 I started to struggle and get annoyed. None of the songs were doing it for me and I started to focus on the heat and how I was feeling instead of enjoying the run. 4.5 miles in, I took my headphones out and ran with them in my hand. I felt a million times better! I ran a faster pace and really enjoyed myself.

I think that music gets me going and is great for the first 3 miles, but once I need to dig deeper and really focus on my run, I get annoyed and focus too much on the music. From now on, I am going to stick to running in silence!

Friday:
My half marathon training guide says rest or light cardio, so I did 30 minutes on the elliptical this morning. I really like waking up and getting my heart rate going, I find my days are more focused and I have more energy.

How was your week of workouts?!

This weekend I am headed up to Burlington, VT for a Bridal Shower for one of my besties! I am so excited, I haven’t been to Burlington for ages! I love it up there. It’s such a beautiful little city.

What are your weekend plans?
