Hey friends! It's been so long, I'm so sorry! Between work, summer starting, getting my driver's license and finals at school, I really hadn't made time to blog in forever!
Not that I should be doing this right now, but something' got to give-right?Not to say you haven't been on my mind, I've felt hundreds of times this past month, "Oh-gosh, I should really write about that!" or "That would make an excellent Blog topic!".
Yeah, lazy bones is a recurring disease.
I've pretty much covered everything that's been going on lately, I did go see "The Fault In Our Stars" yesterday and it was pretty great.
Something that's been weighing on my mind heavily as of late, is the Christian stance on Homosexuality. I know this, in itself, is a hevay topic and it appears everyone is being left to decide for themselves. I was reading this incredible book by Karen Kingsbury called "Learning"
This might be a long quote, but it really sums up my beliefs about God and His take on people struggling with Homosexuality:"This is what the Bible says in First Timothy.... "People who kill their fathers or mothers, murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice homosexuality, slave traders, liars and perjurers...and for whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine..." God doesn't have something against people who struggle with homosexuality. We all struggle with one of those sins, and no sin struggle is worse than another. All God asks is that we keep struggling-especially since Jesus died to set us free from our sin struggle. Whatever the sin..."We're all born with some kind of bent toward sin. God doesn't want me to say, "Oh well...I'm prideful. I was born his way, and I'm going to stay this way."...."We're all going to struggle with one of these (sins) but we're not supposed to give up and say the fight is over.....See, God loves all of us, whatever our struggles. He knows life is hard for us...so He promises to be with us, and He asks us to come together like this (Bible Study). To encourage each other and keep fighting against whatever sin has a hold on us."" (Learning, pg 234-235).
Hopefully you got the gist of that. For the longest time I myself, wasn't really sure about what to think other than-God wants us to love everyone. And that "God hates the sin, not the sinner" but I believe Karen really nailed it here by saying that practicing homosexuality is against what the Bible says, but that doesn't mean God loves any of those who do it any less. Sometimes I feel we, as Christians, are judged and rudely assumed as haters against homosexuals, and you know that's no fair. So, let's love a little, and take the time to really understand the point of views going on in this topic.
Thanks for reading,
God bless,
LizB
