WIAW and Moneyball

Posted on the 25 January 2012 by Mattie @comfyconfident

Guess what! It is What I Ate Wednesday! Or as I like to call it What I Ate Tuesday!
Thanks Jenn for organizing the party :)

WIAW and Moneyball

I have been trying really hard to stick to my LiveFit nutritional plan because when it comes down to it, that is the only way I am going to see a change. I have worked out my whole life. Burning calories is not my problem, consuming too many and the wrong ones is my problem. My eating patterns fluctuate and consist of a lot of carbs and sugar. I know it’s not good when I am eating them and I always regret it after I eat it, but by then there is nothing I can do about it. On the LiveFit Diet plan there are many guidelines and the suggested meals consist of mostly whole grains, protein and veggies. DUH, those are stables for healthy eating but for some reason I always vary from these stables. So, this week I have made a concerted effort to stick to whole grains, protein and veggies. And I have done an OK job, not great, but better. Baby Steps.

There are a couple other diet tips Jamie Eason offers up in her plan that I am trying to implement:

  • Eat within an hour of waking. I have not been doing this because I go start to the gym but today I decided to give it a try and see how it works.
  • Eat every 3 hours – usually 5–6 hours depending on when you wake up. “This is the secret to speeding up your metabolism!” [source]

So without further ado here is my WIAW for Tuesday!

6:30am
up and at-em
Green tea and a bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon

 7:00am
Gym for a back and bicep workout
I am loving doing strength workouts, but I hope I see results soon because my biggest fear is getting bulky
Everything I read says I will not
So I keep lifting
I say, “Give it a month or two, if it doesn’t work, move on and find something else, but it takes more than two weeks to see any difference.” [I hope :/]

9:00am
Egg whites with Sriracha

12:00pm
4oz of grilled chicken seasoned with S + P
a small sweet potato roasted and cubed
sautéed spinach and mushrooms

Dessert happened… this was not part of the plan
This chocolate is so delicious and so different. It is like pop candy in chocolate form. It literally pops in your mouth when you eat it! I am addicted.

And then came ice cream…

I regretted eating the sugary treats at the end of the night but remembered that the rest of the day I had done a great job so I can not beat myself up. I will ease myself off of my sugar addiction and hopefully one day be satisfied with just having a nutritious meal.

Enough about food….

I watched Moneyball, with the lovely Brad Pitt who just got nominated for an Oscar!

WIAW and Moneyball

I love sports movies. They are without a doubt my favorite. Miracle about the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team’s journey to victory over the seemingly invincible Russian squad is my favorite all-time movie. I could watch it a hundred times and not get sick of it. I even wrote a paper on the movie when I was in college! Ha.

Anyway, Moneyball is another classic movie based on true historical events. I enjoyed watching it. I love how the put real footage in. I gives me chills.
But, I have to say, Brad Pitt acts the same in all his movies. He reminded me so much of his character in Ocean’s 11 throughout the whole movie. He was an arrogant jerk and shoved food in his face the entire time.

I hope you have fabulous day!

Question: What was the best thing you ate so far this week?
What is your favorite sports movie?
