WIAW and the SELF Diet Club

You know how they say, you never regret a workout. Well, I kept repeating that to myself while I sat on the couch, dressed to workout, but too lazy to move.

I eventually pulled myself off the couch and made it to the gym. I ran on the elliptical on a very easy level for about 40 minutes. It was better than nothing and it felt good to do something active.

While on the elliptical I read my new Self Magazine with the beautiful Jessica Alba on the cover. They just launched the new Social Diet where you lose weight with friends! It seems really cool and makes total sense. The whole premise is that you use the community of SELF readers on Facebook, Twitter, etc.  to work together and stay motivated while following the diet plan and it will become a “club” – the SELF Diet Club (SDC).

As a member of SDC, they provide you with a daily meal plan and workout schedule that is emailed to you the day before so you can prepare in advance. I signed up and already received an email with my meal plan and workout for tomorrow.

They also give you the general guidelines to their diet so if you feel like eating something different you can. On the plan the caloric intake per meal should be:

Breakfast = 325 – 375 calories with 8g protein and ½ cup of fruit or veggies
Lunch = 425 – 475 calories with 12g protein and 1 cup of veggies
Dinner = 525 – 575 calories with 15g protein and 1 cup veggies
Snack = 150 calories
Treat = 150 calories

For a total of about 1600 calories

I am going to try to stick to the caloric guidelines and the fitness plan. It is 4 weeks!
Let’s see how it goes.

In the mean time, here is what I ate yesterday.

For breakfast I had Overnight Oats with chia seeds.

I had a meeting during lunch so I snuck a quick picture before I chowed down on 1/2 a ham sandwich with lettuce, tomato and mustard on rye bread. I had a bag of Baked Lays chips on the side. I have said it a lot lately, but work is so busy, my lunches have been looking like this alot lately. I might have to change that up now that I joined the #SELFDietClub.

I snacked on an orange in the mid-afternoon.

Dinner was a garden salad, asparagus sauteed in some EVOO and baked chicken with salt, pepper and dijon mustard on top.
