Morning!
Happy Hump Day and WIAW!
My work days are so busy, I try to pack a lot of snacks because I never really get a second to take a break and eat lunch.
This week I have been packing a smoothie, fruit and veggie sticks.
All this food is pretty low calorie but high fiber and keeps me full for a while. It is the perfect way to get me through the day. I am such a snacker, I really have to make a conscious effort to snack well, or else I would be eating chips, cookies and baked goods all day and then feel terrible by dinner time.
I have to remind myself, a carrot stick is not the same as a couple bites of a cookie.
A carrot stick is always better.
Here is what went into my green smoothie. It is the perfect way to get lots of veggies and fruit without having to eat a salad for every meal!
After work I went for a run. It was not my best run. It took me awhile to warm up my legs so I listened to Jillian Michaels Podcast which was a nice distraction from the strugglefest I was having on the run.
I ended up running 4.5 miles at an average pace of 8:15 which is not too bad!
From the races we have been going to, we have a lot of bars and samples laying around the house these days. So, while surfing the web and catching up on blogs, I had some late night snacks! This snack was so satisfying and I did not feel guilty at all because it was all natural and relatively healthy. I mean, I could of had chocolate or ice cream, so this was a good alternative for a similar amount of calories.
The Larabar Chocoloate Chip Brownie was surprising delicious. I had never had this flavor before, but I am absolutely going to be stocking up on it now! It was the perfect combination of sweet and salty!
Now, I know that some Larabar’s are hard to eat. They are super natural and some taste that way! But, I have found a couple I really like and I absolutely think it is worth eating such a healthy, natural bar versus one that is made with chemicals and artificial sweeteners.
By the way, the Larabar website is wicked cool!
[I know this is the wrong bar, but it gets the point across ]
Because the product uses very few ingredients and it is all natural, they show you exactly what is in the bar. You can scroll over each ingredient and learn more about the nutritional value and where the ingredient comes from.
Question: What are your favorite late night snacks?!
