Camp is over, and I still have a crazy amount of work to do to transition to the school year.  Despite the load on my shoulders though, I took a day off work.  It’s a breath of fresh air, but truly, the day is kind of a joke. I am sure a day off conjures up images of relaxation, but there is no time for any of that for me.

This day off is dedicated to my kiddos.  They each have a mile-long back to school supplies shopping list that I haven’t even begun to conquer.  So, we are off to Target and possibly other stores where we’ll have to get the other items that are missing or sold out since I saved this to the last minute.  Such is the life of a busy working Mom though.

Despite the dizzying (and expensive) day ahead, there is something special about the day that I am trying not to lose sight of.  My kids are excited.  They love this day.  It is a day with their Mama, and it represents new beginnings.  Though I may dread all of the other frustrated back to school pushy parents at the store that I will have to deal with no doubt, I must remember to keep it perfect for my little ones.  They deserve it.  They’re the ones who have live school day in and day out, and these supplies make the beginning of the year positive for them.  So, this Mom is sucking it up, and truth be told, I love being able to give my kids 100% of my attention.  I’m so busy so often that a 100% of me day is so highly valued.  I can’t forget this.

My song of the day is “Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones.  This has always been my favorite Stones song, because with all of the obstacles and challenges that come up in life, “wild horses couldn’t drag me away.”  My life belongs to them, and a back to school shopping day proves it.
