Wine & Love, v. 5

Wine

Here’s something: I’m going to try not to whine about anything for a while. In the spirit of lent, I’m going to fast complaining. This is totally spontaneous, so we’ll see how this goes. Instead of whining, whenever I do Wine & Love with Nora, I’ll start to share actual wines that I’ve tasted that I’ve really liked. I’m no connoisseur, but I’ll give it my best shot. So, instead of telling you that traffic really bugged me trying to get into the parking garage this morning, I’ll tell you just wonderful this junk is.

Wine & Love, v. 5

Castello del Poggio

I first had this lovely bottle (not the whole thing, mind you) of Castello del Poggio at a dinner with my friends celebrating my 21st birthday. I’d had no experience with wine up to this point and was a little concerned, but as I took my first sip and rolled it around in my mouth, I thought, “Hmmm…this is actually quite delectable.” It’s a d’Asti, which means it’s effervescent, which means bubbly. But don’t get it at Olive Garden. Okay, you can get it at Olive Garden if you really just want a nice glass of sweet wine, but they’ll charge you more. Go to a liquor store instead that carries wines and it’ll be ten dollars less.

Love

You want to know what I’m loving? A lot of things right now, actually. I’m loving that I’m graduating in six weeks, my classes end in four weeks, in five weeks I’ll be taking my grandparents to dinner for my Nana’s 70th birthday, in that same five weeks from now I’ll be going to Florida to celebrate the upcoming wedding of two of my friends, and in another two months I’ll be going back to Florida for said friends’ wedding. Also, sometime after that, a group of us is going to an all-day wine tasting in North Carolina. I bought the tickets at a discount through Living Social for Em’s birthday, and I am so excited for whenever we go. So, there’s a lot that will be happening in the next two months. Also, jumbled up in there will be my dad’s and my birthday’s. Whew! That’s a lot going on, but I will enjoy every moment of it!
