X is for... XOXO

(source - supernaturalbotanicals.com)

This morning I was thinking about hugs and kisses, now wasn't that handy? What with today being letter X and everything! I swear I think alphabetically these days, Lord know what I'll be thinking next week, nothing I imagine - I'll probably be lying down in a dark room.

I digress, I was thinking about whether my kids hugged each other much. I know my daughter is appalled that when her friend falls out with her sister, they have to kiss and make up "BLEARGH, kiss, can you imagine mum, what an awful punishment, I'd rather have my phone confiscated for week" is her opinion on that one.

She was away at camp last week, and it was funny to see them interacting on her return, her brother ran to the door when she got back, and stood there looking awkward, although in retrospect I think he was expecting a present.

They sat on the sofa telling each other about their respective weeks and didn't bicker at all, for about five whole minutes, it was lovely. Then things got back to normal.

All this sibling squabbling makes me laugh, no that's a lie, it makes me send them both to their rooms and yell horrid guilt-trippy things about  rather staying at work if it's to come home to this bickering. It does however make me smile a little, because whenever one of them leaves the house they yell to the other "Bye, have a lovely day, love you lots and lots". I can only assume it's become a kind of Pavlov leaving-the-house phrase, because I say it as I leave to work in the morning.

It is lovely to see signs of affection between them, it reminds me of how pleased I was to give them both the best present in the world  - a sibling (don't tell my brother I said that, I'll deny it if you do).

What about yours? Do they cover each other in XOXO?
