You Are the Chojen One!

Posted on the 25 April 2013 by Shruti2910
Definately, as the saying goes, it is my father.
My father is actually responsible for my existence.
So if I piss you off, blame him :D
Had he not fought for my life, I wouldn't have been writing this today. My grand parents didn't like me when I was born because of very first obvious reasons that their only son had become a father of a girl and they knew about his plans of having just one child. Second, I was very ugly and unhealthy as a child and was devoid of any extra care because my gender. Hence I wasn't even what they call 'cute' when I was born.
My mother, at-times tells me how my dadi called me a chuiya (a mouse) when I suffered from Jaundice.
My dad wasn't present when I was born and had no clue about what treatment me and my mother received, thanks to negligible phone services.
As soon as he came to know about all this, he took me and my mother with him.

He didn't just save me but he protected honor of a girl-child and her mother.
As I have mentioned in my previous blog posts too, he quit his tea and morning milk so that they could afford my medicines and treatments. Yes, he wasn't a very rich man and had a salary of Rs.2200 when I was born.
Mummy tells me how I would start giggling when he came back from office, by merely seeing him.
My mother didn't like holding me in arms (mainly because I had then become very heavy) but he never felt shy or got tired of my weight but picked me everywhere, be it his office parties or anything.
You are the Chojen One!
You are the Chojen One!
Yes there is one another hero who contributed in saving me too. My doctor, Rajesh Vyas. I haven't seen him ever but my parents tell me how he never took fees for my treatment and told them he'll take it after am cured.
When my treatment finally cured me my dad went up to him and gave him his wallet that had his 5 month's salary. Doctor took a Rs. 100 note and returned him the wallet saying my life is his fees :)
Despite his low income, the only parties he enjoyed were my birthday parties.
We had our first scooter when I was 2 years old.
We went on rides and he taught me the song 'Ye kaha agaye hum, yunhi sath sath chalte', which we sang every time on scooter.
He has since then taught me every vehicle he got. First it was a bike, then activa, then car. I wish you get a plane too someday :P
I was 12 when I could ride a bike. I remember how kids in my flat said, "Ye woh bike wali didi hai."
He used to take me to Kamati Baug in Baroda every Sunday as I enjoyed horse-rides a lot.
My mother irritatingly tells me how it was compulsory for her to accompany me and dad in every Golden circus in the city.
I have grown with him. All the morals and values I carry with me today are his efforts.
I have grown up hearing various stories from Shiv Khera's You Can Win that he recited and explained to me.
I have seen him fighting for my mother with his family members over dowry issues.
I have seen him run for his sister's honor when he came to know that she was physically abused by her husband.
I have seen him fight with all flat members for a woman, whom they accused of practicing witch-craft.
And above all, I have seen him as an amazing person.
I have seen him fight with my badi dadi and badi nani because they wanted me to get married at 16-17 but he let me study.
A Hi-Fi to our friendship.
You are the Chojen One!You are the Chojen One!
He's the man.
Mad,Smart,Intelligent and all that.
Whenever I go on appreciating him, they say all daughters see their father likewise?
But then I have heard other say the same for him.
They say I have got it all from him.
The humor, the music and jolliness.
Its a proud thing to know.
You are the Chojen One!
Thank you Papa for everything.
