The city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands decided that it would be a good idea to educate 9-year-olds and their parents on the consumption of alcohol especially at an early age. An interview with one of said 9-year-olds, broadcasted by NOS Jeugdjournaal on 5 September, reveals his apparently abundant experience with alcohol.
According to Inge Verhoef of the Stichting Alcoholpreventie (foundation for alcohol prevention), teaching young children about alcohol has not proven to be effective. However, educating parents about the consequences of early alcohol use and abuse does.
